In relating to my post, Happy in COVID Time, I met someone who expressed how her fitness basically wreak of death because of Covid-19. She basically misses going into to gym and being among people, therefore absolutely voiding herself of any substantial movement. Why do we seem to paralyze ourselves without the presence of people’, is humankind that tacked-on to each other? Or is the gym the last beacon of any kind of hope to get motion in our bodies? Could that be the reason people seem to blame COVID-19 for their denigrated body bulk? If you are one, you heard it hear first – you can walk, jog, ride a bike and not only for body benefit, but at least to stir up the ‘feel good’ hormones – get happy.
Mindful in time, see the nature, capture the landscape, realize your breath and the goodness in its movement.
In this time in my life I walk more, jog and bike at times. I have met so many people that “used to run.” Of course there is the cadre who hate running and would stop at nothing to make it known that it’s not on their ‘cup list’ as a mini desire or even glimpsive flutter in their dreams.
Nevertheless, biking is a nice cruise [hence the no-speed cruiser bikes] to be openly nosey, it brings joy to really see and take in your surroundings – curb appeal, abandon buildings, garbage can displays, housing decor – an interesting show! How many times have you driven and the automobile is going too fast to see all that’s around you, some interesting? If your legs work, show gratitude and use them to ride, walk or be daring, jog!

A trek, happy in a stride or a bike-ride:
- It’s great if you can see water, whether a lake, river, stream or the ocean. Looking at the water is so refreshing, it’s like I can breathe better when I see water. Interesting, research shows that people who live close to water “tends to induce a sense of calm and well-being, and one marine biologist says living close to a lake, river, sea or ocean actually promotes happiness.”
- Not only am I trying to make sure my gait is ‘on point’ and my stride is flowing, not flailing, I key into the oxygen secretors along the way – those trees are much to create a mood of grateful and happy.
- Houses provide an interesting show, it runs the gamut of appealing to perhaps not so. A bevy of analysis to muse: curb appeal; décor; styles; is it a happy house – make outdoor trek interesting.
See nature, appreciate it.
Get Out, and get your ‘happy’ on!
I wish I lived near you to have a biking partner. You are right; there is so many things in the outdoors for us to take in and be happy about. Inspiring!
