Happiness has a health connection! I am slothfully waiting the day when all that’s being researched gets to the lack of happiness as a diagnosis for failing health. We are so surrounded by unhappy situations, that mushrooms out like peacock feathers to reach us. We should not let unhappy situations unhappy us!
Be mindful by twisting your focus on the things that bring you happiness. Scientific evidence suggests that happy emotions which results in a positive outlook can help make life longer and healthier – I say, anything else is attempted suicide.
Today I will probe a few of the barrage of beat-down bothers from traffic – some of the health breakdown malefactors:
- Not merging into traffic correctly
- Not letting you in for lane change
- Driving too slow – especially in fast lane
- People on cell phones causing slowdowns or dangers
- Loud music
- Gridlock traffic (the grandaddy of them all)
Some of the above comes from those driving as if they only read the How to Drive a Car Dummies handbook – how to steer a car, stop a car and accelerate a car – anything else is like “deer in the headlights’: “should I turn now or wait here longer; can I sightsee or go ‘turtle’ in the fast lane or can I haul my appliances and furniture that barely fit in my vehicle to freak out other drivers”?

Instead, realize they didn’t hit you, they are humans with issues, but though bothersome, don’t make it your mental issue. When you do, it chips away at your precious life……. keyword precious. Take the ‘not today’, ‘not-in-my-brain’ medication. Because you know what, after that handbook-driving human leaves, there’s another one up ahead.
Be defensive, be vigilant – drive with the auspice that other drivers are a hazard to you.
Keep your happy. Deep breaths WORK – inhale deeply from your belly for 4 counts ….1, 2 3, 4, exhale slowly for 8 counts…….1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Do that 3 times, happy comes back (highly suggested in gridlock traffic) – at least you will get to your destination with full sanity, and most likely live longer!
Be defensive, be vigilant, be healthy, be happy – breathe!
