Happy is as Happy does – I thought this was my mantra until I Googled it.  Apparently it existed before, however in my meaning I see that “self” is where ‘happy’ lives, absence of that means that extending any good to anyone is futile.

How’s your happiness – nothing brewing there?  Check your generosity.   And I don’t mean giving in the holiday season.  True.. acts of giving is more prevalent, but even then some don’t give gifts to others they haven’t receive a gift from – what false-generosity!  To be happy, we have to give genuinely and feel others happiness.

Research shows that looking beyond yourself and the perspective of the world can open up a reality for us to bring and see happiness in others.  Let’s get happy!

Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.

-Ben Carson

Marsha, who lived life on the radical of drugs and wrong choices ended up with a life lived in her car for many years, parked near a department store.  She usually greeted people with a “good morning” or “good afternoon” and it was seen by a manager at the store, who decided to engage her in conversation.  She felt the aura of sincerity and a dedication to better herself and offered her a job at the store.  The manager was eagly joyful to make such a difference in Marsha’s life, as Marsha fulfilled her given generosity. I felt a tear when I saw this story on the news for Marsha and the joy of the manager.

The ‘managers’ of the world is testimony to the fact that we find satisfaction in giving back, because we have an innate desire to help the less fortunate.  Divergent to what we see in life, many of us are aware of our privilege to others, and have an aspiration to ‘lend a hand.’

  1. Do something for someone, e.g., volunteer in organizations to help others
  2. Say something pleasant to someone, e.g., a compliment; a greeting; an acknowledgement
  3. Buy something for someone, e.g.,

  • Store establishment – In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, more so, and even before grocery retailers have periodically carried pre-bagged groceries for the need of their communities. Take a moment to add the purchase to your items.
  • Give at church or elsewhere – It’s uncanny, that people talk about, fight about, plan about money all the time, but when it comes to giving in a religious setting it can bring about ‘cataclysm in collecting.’  Generosity is generosity. Giving is giving.

Sharing your goodness and kindness is eminence to your inevitable fate of happiness.
