“It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood” – starting his program with that phrase Mister Rogers (half-hour educational children’s television) must have operated on the auspice that ‘this is the day the Lord has made let us Rejoice and be glad in it’.
Of course, easier said than done.
At birth, no one came to our cribs and pledged us a life of lavender and lovely people, hence this Happiness Blog, LOL.
Here’s a notable happiness diffuser situation, while shopping:
An acquaintance of mine has a daily routine of cherishing the morning with gratitude and meditation and good coffee, oh good coffee, better than “sliced bread” really – a morning to envy. She grabs the day much like Mister Rogers and looks forward to stepping in to relish what it brings. It’s amazing to be wrapped with such happiness, but it can be bolstered with a bale of bitterness too. It’s called Life!
- She sauntered her lovely self into a store to buy a shirt. A store that met her with bright lights, bright décor, bright shoppers, only to get to the register and be hit with a glee-less glum. The shirt did not have a price tag and she pointed it out to the cashier, but little did she know that she would be lambasted about finding one with a tag. Of course, if you were a gambling person you would afford to launch into outer space, if you bet on clothing not having a price tag.
- On the other side of the proverbial counter, a sensible shrink would affirm that people have issues and much to the recesses of our unconsciousness it manifests in snappy ways. Mental, hormonal, emotional among other things can be a factor.
Nevertheless when it comes your way you don’t grab the load and make it your bundle. Learn to let it go, I promise you, there’s another one up ahead [Happy in Traffic]. Keep the happy that’s in you, no one has rights to blow up your joy.
As the pledge [for a perfect world] not made at our cribs, would have it, people are sure to have problems. We don’t know what may be festering in their hearts and minds, but it comes out in unpredictable ways and moments when one of us noble humans happen to be in their presence.
EMPHATIC NOTE: Their problem is not your own – don’t make it stick, get that curse off you. Breathing more life into that spell just makes it a giant snowball that rolls out of control, gathering more people as it goes on. The bad always seem to have an easily-gravitated foothold, much like the news.
Detach yourself and don’t internalize their issue.

And if someone else’s negative energy is compromising your happiness, walk away. Find mindful peace.
People were born without worry and sour hearts, but along the way perhaps a little while ago, yesterday, last week or years ago they met negative triggers that distressed their happiness. Don’t let it compromise yours.
What’s the outlook of your day, how do you meet your morning?
Give someone a chance to lasso your blessing, and be happy.
Bring on the Happy and charge into your day, ready!
